Love
What does the word love mean? Love is a word that is easy to put into a context, but when you try and nail it down it is embarrassing to realise that you don't really know what it is, and a simple definition will elude you. You can give examples, but can you see the common denominator in them?
Philosophy is really about really understanding what the words mean. Otherwise at the end of the day we are just defining words, defining words.
We are not talking about some soppy emotion here, the word love has far greater connotations than normally inferred. The preternatural meaning of the word without anthropic association, and the existence of it prior to any human being — pure and unaffected — realises that the state of just being is the state of love.
If you extract it down to its most core and fundamental level, love is the word to define the unresisted and natural way of the universe. The pure base existence of this beatification has to be love.
Love is the essence of pure being. Just being is complete acceptance, the unrestricted going with the flow of nature. Love is nonjudgement and trust. An absolute trust in the way, knowing that our thoughts of how we think it should be are just a wild guess and most probably wrong. We have to trust that it is meant to be this way; anything else is arrogance. All we do is tell a story around it.
At the root of it, there is no love other than the love of God, because it is ultimately just acceptance of the universe. God being the spiritual word that represents the process that produces all that has been created, all that is, and love is the word that signifies the pure acceptance of this, regardless of its method. We also call this nature and is the process or the evolution of the universe. We are at a particular point within this process. We are a part of nature and we are nature itself; both the making of it and the made. Our most base natural interaction with this process, and within this process can be called love. In this context, love is the purest harmony with nature, it is nature itself, it is letting it happen with the full trust that it is good and supposed to be this way. The simple abandonment to it without judgement or criticism or expectation. The flowing with the true way. Any other way is a mental fiction.
To be in a pure state of love is to be in the present; prae-sentia — before thought. No thought of past or future, no judgement or responsibility, just being in a state of full acceptance. This is also grace, at its basest level.
To be in this matrix of beatification is belief. The 'lieve' in 'be-lieve', is the same as the German word 'liebe', and the English word 'love'. I believe = I am love. A 'relief' is love again; a return to love. Love is the same trust and flow that the atoms and molecules have that create this. To believe — to be love — is having the faith that all is as it should be; all is well, whole and complete: holy.
The loving of another person is accepting them as they really are, which is as you are. The difference is in their appearance and habits. Not insisting that they are the way you would like them to be, but accepting them as they really are without judgement, is true love. No mental conceptualisation; no criticism; no influence from society's culture; no ego involved.
A baby is wholly in the moment, with complete abandonment to life; no preconceptions as to how something should be, trusting, totally accepting — this is being in love.
You can only be your true self when you are not cognizant of yourself. Abandoned to the way. Just being. Forget yourself to be yourself. This is when you truly love yourself. You cannot love yourself in the right way without also loving everyone else.
We can all see a part of ourselves that we love, and we can all see that part in others as well. So, we are always surrounded by love in some way or another. It is who you truly are, who is truly beautiful; whoever you are.
At the end of the day, you can only truly love yourself. Everything is you. Everything is your sensation. Every sensation is the universe. The love of the universe. The being of the universe. The universe being experienced through you. When you close your eyes and relax and feel your body by proprioception, that feeling is the universe hugging you and loving you; you are an amorphous blob floating in the divine, cocooned and fully supported in its loving embrace. You are the universe! You are the One Story. There is only you.
