The Tethered

Tethered refers to the holding of the foot with a hand, and the restraining of the arms movement by the restriction imposed by the movement range of the leg. Although limiting to the arms freedom of movement, it is a great help to extend the leg's capability.

  1. The Tethered Techniques - one leg secured by a hand
    1. Tethered Condor - the free arm maintains a yoked position with the tethered during the movement.
    2. Tethered Kirkos - the free arm does a Whyzed Olikos Kirkos while the other holds foot and extends out and back while also performing a Kirkos.
    3. The Tethered Dykirkos - the free arm does a Dykirkos while the other holds foot and extends out and back while also performing a Dykirkos.
    4. The Tethered Penter or Tethered Gate
    5. Tethered Superman - the starting upright position between other techniques.
    6. Tethered Turtle - seated, hands grasping feet outstretched, performing Dykirkoi or Gate.

Tethered Kirkos

In the Tethered Kirkos, one hand holds the ipsilateral foot and the free arm does a Whyzed Olikos Kirkos while the hand that holds the foot extends out and back while also performing a Kirkos.

Tethered Superman

Tethered Superman is the starting upright position and the place of return between movements where there is a pause. This starting position uses a stretching action where the hand grasping the foot is pushed down by the foot, while the other hand reaches for the sky producing a strong stretch for the spine which is elongated by an accompanying pulling up of the head extension. Up, up and away!

Tethered Penter or Gate

tethered penter down

One hand is holding a foot of an outstretched leg doing 1 Penter while the other Penter is done with the other hand

The drawing of the Penter with the grasped foot has a counter-balancing Penter drawn with the other hand (and therefore Dragonfly on the Open Gate is being performed).
