Sliding the slider underneath the picture to the left reveals how the picture turns into an illuminated path as the light is turned down and it gets darker, there being no better way to trace a path than with illuminated finger tips in the dark. Perhaps my art is better in the dark!
Below is the form that is used to lay down the carpet of wax which is then engraved away. The path is called the Penter and the white dot represents the moving of the crayon, and the whole thing is moved randomly across the page laying down an interwoven texture that forms the canvas to start with.
The pictures are constructed out of the pattern that the picture is. The patterns are configurations of Penters, and the texture that they are made of is made from the Penters as they are being performed with wax. It is therefore effectively fractal.

The journey is a work of art—whether the end result is or not is debateable—but I think that the journey of making it, definitely is.

Randomness from order
There are 12 flies with each fly following the path of a Penter within a Pentegraph Orb.
