The word ‘sigil’ is closely related to the word ‘sign’ and can also have the etymological meaning of ‘to engrave, carve’ as well as ‘to follow’. What is carved out becomes a sign to follow. It is a seal or symbol to represent some mental concept to be used in a method of attaining some desire. The Sigils of Megak are carved from wax which has been laid onto paper.

The sigils are created by a technique that uses the Penter performed hundreds or thousands of times, repeating it randomly across the paper, creating a carpet of laid down wax of interwoven colours producing an organic texture. From this I carve into it and reveal by extraction the parts which are drawn to my attention by my subconscious influences while meditating upon a concept which I wish to happen or just happy thoughts to prevent negative ones occurring.

The Penter is the quintessential constructor for the Pentegraph Orb, and is also the symbol for ORBIT: the acronym for Observe, Release, Believe, Integrate, Transcend. The following of these postural principles is the meditative state that accompanies this process. Observing our silent relaxed breathing, trusting that what is happening is just the unfolding of the universe, and our integration with this guiding force is our transcendence from our mundane restrictions. This is the preparation for the creation of the sigil.

It is a two stage process. The first stage comprises of drawing Penters across the paper. Each Penter has an Aster in its centre, which is a pentagram. This means that the fabric that results from this process is physically made out of pentagrams; hundreds of them. Thus the medium is imbued throughout with the arcane form of the pentagram from which will be carved the sigil in the second stage.

Portals to your Dreams

The second stage of the process involves the carving into the wax to reveal patterns and forms which come to the notice of the mind as it is absorbed into the losing of oneself into the amorphous canvas. The shapes that are revealed to me do not have pareidolic influence, and do not represent any physical similarity to the thoughts of my wishing as the process unfolds. The shapes that occur are entirely coincidental to any accompanying mental processes, and are only representative of the action by the simultaneous nature of their creation. But they are nonetheless a sigil, with the power to hold the thoughts that have journeyed into it. They are a bit like the forming of emotions—they happen anyway, whether you want them to or not. There doesn't have to be any precise method or intent because this is just the way it works in nature, and as long as there is sufficient activity, the neural pathways will become engrained and have their influence on the forthcoming events of your life. Things will happen like magic; or at least that is the story that can be told around it. Your thoughts create your experience.

Although any wish may be thought of while the creation of the sigil is made, it is the summoning of lucid dreams that it is quite suited to. The amorphous and indistinct nature of the pictures that are revealed, are evocative of the surreality of dreams, and their conjuring similar to the fabrication of the dreams themselves.

Below is the form that is used to lay down the carpet of wax which is then engraved away to reveal the sigil. The path is called the Penter and the coloured ball represents the moving of the wax crayon, and the whole thing is moved randomly across the page laying down an interwoven texture that forms the pentagram imbued canvas, from which the magical picture is then created.

The technique is an ordered method but produces a completely random effect. That randomness allows the divine path of the subconscious to extract patterns that construct the sigil, and provides an unseen avenue for the quantum effects to weave their way into reality.

If you cannot make the base material yourself you can buy a pre-waxed page (called a starting block) made especially for you out of a myriad of pentagrams, from which you can produce your own personal sigil and a doorway to your dreams. Or you can peruse my catalogue and contact me if you wish to purchase any.
