Pentegraph Ensemble

Pentegraph produces the constraints of a pattern applied to physical movement. Finding the limits of human movement also produce the parameters for a pattern and establish the constraints imposed by the limits of physical positioning. Harnessing these conditions together produces the Ensemble.

In normal martial arts such as karate and T'ai chi, the techniques of the system are chained together into a form which is practiced and produces a framework within which to work. Pentegraph works the opposite way, where there is a starting framework within which techniques are recognized and then extracted from it. Pentegraph is not a martial art, but it could be used as a framework to be one.

Pentegraph patterns force the body limb to travel in areas and directions that it wouldn't normally do, and because of this, it is a good developing exercise system—especially for the otherwise under-developed legs. The normal movement range of the legs is quite restricted relative to the actual physical capability they have, with them being mostly confined to walking and sitting. They have the range to do a lot more. Flexibility and fitness can only be achieved by doing it. This means performing the paths of the Penters and Asters of the Pentegraph Orb. Fitness is the fitting into a shape or activity.

If you have already done martial arts then the footwork that accompanies the movements does not need to be dwelt upon. You are going to a place from a place, and the body needs to just be where it is necessary to be while doing it. The techniques adjustments aren't needed to be done if the body is doing it, because the paths are precise and have geometric meaning. Everything will follow and be what it needs to be, to be doing it. Don't get distracted by looking at the finger pointing to the moon. Balance and centredness is automatically acquired while doing it; it is a by-product of the doing of it. It is not really necessary to focus upon it and doing so distracts from the realness of it.

The concept of Pentegraph Ensemble needs to be extended into the paths being digitally programmed into a humanoid robot, which will be able to perform the movements perfectly and with great power. No chance of damaged hands which could break if they hit something. The hands of the robot could be steel balls or spiked maces if used for martial purposes!
